Why DaCapo?
“The DaCapo Primary resource is absolutely fantastic. It guides you clearly and easily through a lesson, with no element skipped out! Such an amazing tool to add to my teaching AND perfect for non-musicians to use too. Cannot recommend this highly enough. ”
Why DaCapo?
DaCapo is uniquely structured; progression is built-in and class achievement happens at the rate of the class. Schools, where music participation and achievement are valued, will be able to teach to ambitiously high levels through the accumulation of skills presented in DaCapo.
DaCapo is accessed via subscription at just £50 per class per year. The creators are music specialists with an award-winning curriculum that has been developed in primary schools over the past 30 years. It is a resource that leaves nothing to chance.
The Solution
DaCapo has taken a contemporary approach to the respected pedagogical methods of Kodaly and Eurythmics and the programme is based on these principles.
By selecting the songs, areas and activities, a class moves through the programme, accessing the next level by completing the requirements for each module. This ensures progression and tangible achievement which is carried into the next academic year. Teachers can track their class’s progression. The skills developed and the progress made by each class is logged by the resource in the unique settings for each class.
“What was really nice about this software is that you don’t have to be a musician to use it. It’s really easy to use, it progresses naturally, the children respond really well to it and actually you learn as you go along with the children. I think the staff will become better musicians for using it!” - Rachel, teacher, Malorees Infant School
The Curriculum
DaCapo teaches all of the elements expected in the new national curriculum (2021) in short modular lessons. These can be done individually on a daily basis or in a cluster, forming a longer and varied music lesson.
The programme is founded on Kodaly, a full methodology of music teaching. This highly effective and streamlined method of education has been brought into the 21st Century by DaCapo with added movement, visuals and humour and newly commissioned repertoire.
The approach is thorough and follows a clear and progressive curriculum. It includes the learning of pulse, pitch, rhythm, improvisation and composition, expressive elements, coordination, and performance and builds reading skills in a practical way so that children can both hear music, write it down, and become independent musicians.
The delivery involves all learning styles: auditory, visual and kinaesthetic so that all children will be able to access the learning
